Player Info:
Name: Brooke
Character Audition Questions:
Name: Sally-Anne Rajani Perks (She goes by Anne Rajani Perks)
Age and date of birth: December 1, 1979
Physical description: Anne is short, around 5'2". She wears her brown hair long and straight, but has been known to cut it very short on a whim as well. She also wears it curly whenever she's brewing, since it's easier to keep out of the way. She trends towards slender, but her weight has fluctuated greatly over the years because of stress. She is currently the skinniest she's been since Hogwarts, but is still a healthy enough weight not to be sick.
Parents' Allegiance: (DE, OotP, Ministry, etc.): Each Other, French and American Ministries. Anne's parents tried to stay neutral, and eventually fled England during the war. Anne was of age, and refused to flee with them. She moved in with her mother's parents, who were DE sypmathizers.
Personal Allegiance: (DE, OotP, Ministry, etc.): Self, Purebloods. She was a DE sympathizer until the Dark Lord fell. She never took the mark, but often covered for classmates who were off serving the Dark Lord. She aligns with Purebloods, but can't quite seem to make the leap to joining the latest cause. She is sympathetic to the Liberi, but has not been approached and is only aware of activities through the whispers of the few people she's seen since arriving back to England.
How do people perceive this character: Anne is quiet and studious, which most people mistake for weakness. She is small and appears delicate, and her parents were of modest means, so she never attracted any attention beyond her striking eyes. She is highly ambitious and works hard towards her various goals. Most people tend to look over Anne or forget that she exists. Traveling abroad most of her life did not help matters.
Greatest fear: Putting energy into something that will fail.
Greatest passion: Proving her parents wrong, brewing, music.
Aspirations: To be a top Potions Mistress, world renown for her ability to brew Eastern and Western potions. To finally find a place where she can belong, and not feel like an outsider despite her lineage.
Greatest Positive Attribute: She is driven and determined to accomplish whatver goals she sets for herself, no matter what it takes.
Biggest Fault: She doesn't trust easily, and if she trusts you and you break that trust, she will never forgive you or forget. She doesn't trust her own parents, and blames them for a lot of the instability in her life.
Happiest Memory: Getting her Level 1 Mastery in Potions, moving in with her grandparents after passing her O.W.L.s, going back to Hogwarts after a three-year absence.
Most painful Memory: Waking up to her little sister's death at the hands of Muggles. It is the memory she sees whenever she's near Dementors.
Does your character value the purity of blood: Mostly. She still abides half-bloods, but hates muggle-borns and muggles, as they tend to remind her of her sister's death. She was sorted Slytherin and it only cemented the young Anne's hatred for muggles. She understands that some people can be valuable despite blood, but she prefers to avoid anything remotely involving muggles.
Is your character "pure-blooded," a "half-blood" or "Muggle-born": Pureblooded. One of her great-grandparents' sisters married a Black on her mother's side, and her father's side is pure at least five generations. Her mother's side can be traced back eight generations and is probably older.
Describe the character's personal history (however brief or extensive):
School History:
Anne Perks was sorted Slytherin just moments before Harry Potter was sorted. Thus began her lifetime in the shadows. She excelled the first few years of school, earning near top honors during her first stint at Hogwarts and while at Beauxbatons. After her second year, in the face of basilisk attacks her parents believed that Hogwarts was too dangerous for their only remaining daughter and transferred her to Beauxbatons. She re-connected with her Slytherin friends during the Tri-Wizard tournament and maintained constant correspondence with members of the house while studying her fifth year at Beauxbatons. After her fifth year, Anne petitioned to transfer back to Hogwarts pending her O.W.L. scores. She did well enough to test into the NEWT class for Potions, Transfiguration, Arithmacy and Ancient Runes. Against her parents wishes, she remained at Hogwarts as the Dark Lord began amassing his army. She witnessed her classmates go through the struggles of constant Death Eater activity, but continued to support the cause nearly to the bitter end.
After the war she returned to Hogwarts for a brief time, only two weeks, but found the experience too painful without her Slytherin year-mates, and studied at home for a couple of years before going abroad for her Mastery.
Personal:
When Anne was seven, and her little sister five, muggles broke into her home and killed her sister. They were robbers attempting to steal valuables, but entered through the girls' window rather than the master bedroom window. Only accidental magic saved Sally-Anne's life. Her first experience with muggles scarred her for life. Her parents moved back to England when she was eight, and the extended family lived in her Grandfather's old Manor home for a while, but soon they moved into a flat in muggle London after numerous fights over Sally-Anne's magical education. She was home-schooled by her mother until she went to Hogwarts. The death of her little sister divided the family irrevocably. Her British grandparents were former supporters of Grindenwald and sometimes sent monetary support to cousins who were known to the family as Death Eaters during both reigns of the Dark Lord. Her American grandparents (the Perks), were Light-minded wizards of modest means, They preferred neutrality. It was part of what drove her British mother to marrying her father and eventually moving to America in the first place. Her British grandparents encouraged her to study the Dark Arts and taught her as much about old pureblood culture as possible. The years she lived with her grandparents she studied culture and the Arts exclusively, catching up on all the things she had not learned as a young child. She defied her parents at the earliest convenience when she moved out of their house and back in with her British grandparents to re-enroll at Hogwarts. She does not speak to her parents.
Other:
Anne dropped the first part of her hyphenated name when she was old enough to get a name change. Nobody who knew her name ever called her Sally-Anne, knowing how much she detested her first name. She continues to be a woman conflicted by her own past. Inheriting her grandparent's estate and nearly taking her mother's maiden name, she wishes to embrace the society that her parents tried to keep her away from, but her lack of involvement in the last war puts a barrier between herself and her Slytherin contemporaries. Except for a few of her year-mates, few of them even remember what house she was sorted into. While she was not raised like other pureblood girls, her parents perferring to instill a bit of independence and freedom in young Anne, she still has the training to hold her own among the British elites.
She wants to get involved in the Liberi, but she is afraid of losing who she really is for a cause she doesn't quite understand. As much as she wants to pick up where everything left off in her Sixth year, she realizes that far too many people were destroyed in the last reign of Voldemort. She knows she could never support the Ministry, but does not know if she's strong enough to stand against them. Anne has returned to England from studying under a Potions Mistress. She returned for her grandfather's funeral and as the last surviving Gamp with a direct claim her grandfather passed everything on to her. Avoiding her mother has been her biggest challenge, since her mother was written out of the will and blasted out of the family tree when she refused to raise Anne the 'right' way. She has not really gotten back in touch with the 'old crowd' in the months since her return to England. She finds herself unsure about how to play the games every Slytherin mastered before they got off the train as first years now that the players and rules have changed.
Profession: Currently unemployed, maintaining the Gamp estate, Potions Mistress by trade.
