Describe the character's personal history (however brief or extensive):

Aubrey grew up in a middle class family in the town of Burn, West Yorkshire, outside of York. Her father, Jacob, was a banker and her mother, Nancy, a primary school teacher. She is the younger of two children. Her brother is three years older and named Elijah. She was a bright child, although not as outgoing as her elder brother. She had a few experiences of accidental magic, though none were very remarkable. Her Hogwarts letter came as a surprise, but her parents were happy to let her go.

She was sorted into Ravenclaw and took considerable interest in flying, although she did not make the Quidditch team until her fifth year, playing chaser. She did well in Transfiguration and Ancient Runes (receiving an E on both NEWTS). She got them a subscription to the Daily Prophet as a gift for their anniversary in her second. As a result, they grew more and more horrified with the events going on in the Wizarding World. After she left Hogwarts, they forced her to go abroad, fearing that she could be killed. She literally arrived home with her school trunk when they forced a suitcase and passport in her hand and brought her to the airport. The only magical items she had on her person was her wand and a few galleons.

She ended up in New York City with a widowed great-aunt, totally unprepared for her new world, one without magic and ruled by technology. Living in the woman's rent-controlled apartment, she became the woman's companion as well as taking on a series of dead end jobs to earn extra money. As an escape, she began to spend most of her free time at her local branch of the public library, studying to earn her GED. At the library she caught the eye of a man, Christian van Andel, a wealthy businessman. Eventually he worked up the nerve to to talk to her and they struck up a friendship. The friendship eventually lead to marriage after her great-aunt's death. She did not tell him she was a witch.

Many of Christian's friends would mutter "Anna Nicole Smith" or "trophy wife" under their breaths, but Aubrey strove to prove them different. She obviously quit her job and earned her GED and began to take classes at Hunter College, in addition to doing charity work with various charities. During her years of marriage, she earned a degree in English. Five months ago, Christian was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and like many of those diagnosed, was given a poor prognosis. It was that night Christian asked her to promise him that if the pain ever got too much for him, to assist him in suicide. She agreed. Two months later, while he was sleeping, she fulfilled her promise. The day after Christian's funeral, she discovered she was two months pregnant. It has taken her three months to pull herself out of depression.

She has just moved back to England, trying to integrate herself back into English and Wizarding culture. She hasn't contacted her parents. She is still sore on how they pushed her out of her world. The Chambers sent some money, but not enough, and there was little contact as the pair did not make any effort to see that she settled comfortably. They didn't even know she had been married as Aubrey didn't see it fit to tell them. Her brother, Elijah, does know about her marriage as he came to New York City on business and saw fit to contact her. They had lunch and he spied her ring. He never met Christian. One of her first priorities upon returning to England is to see Elijah. She had no interest in the social circles of the Wizarding World, but she wants to champion a cause, if only to get her life back on track.

Profession: Librarian for Saraswati Prep School.
