Bellatrix Lestrange

Player Info:
Name: Elle

Character Audition Questions:

Name: Bellatrix 'Bella' Jezebel Lestrange (née Black)
date of birth: October 31, 1951 (age: 52)
Physical description:Bella is tall and willowy, and has always been beautiful in the way a panther is beautiful; magnetic, compelling and dangerous. Before Azkaban, she was gently rounded despite her tall, delicate frame. Her time in Azkaban has thinned her, but it has only served to make her features and build edgily elegant, her breeding showing through despite the atmosphere in which she finds herself.

Bella has long dark hair and dusky, heavy-lidded blue eyes. She also has several tattoos on her body.
Parents' Allegiance: (DE, OotP, Ministry, etc.): Bella's parents were dark wizards though they had no affiliation with Voldemort, and they are long gone now. Her only living relatives are her sister Narcissa Malfoy, her nephew Draco, and her niece Nymphadora Tonks.
Personal Allegiance: (DE, OotP, Ministry, etc.): Allegiance is a fluid concept for Bella. She is primarily self-interested, intent on satisfying her own madness and sadistic tendencies for mayhem. However, she is completely unpredictable. Bella has always had a fondness for her little sister, Narcissa, and should she ever put even a moment's loyalty to someone, it would be her.
How do people perceive this character: Bella truly frightens people. She is magnetic in a way that can't be ignored, luring and lulling with terrible beauty edged with madness. She can be completely charismatic or wholly terrifying for the darkness that lurks in the shadows of her eyes, the slow, dangerous curl of her smiles; such is both fascinating and tempting, and absolutely menacing - a truly precarious combination for anyone that happens in her path.

Bella is a thing of nightmares not because of the things she has done and is capable of doing, but because she is aware and completely coherent in her twisted insanity; she is adept at great machinations, rational and detailed for her Hunts, however, it is all tinged with true sadistic derangement. She truly takes pleasure in chaos and has no respect in the least for the sanctity of life. The world is her own, personal torture room, and her plagues are many, from the subtle to the grotesque.
Greatest fear: Bella has nothing to lose, and therefore nothing to fear. Her death does not frighten her and she doesn't value another person enough to fear losing them. She is truly mad enough that fear is just outside of her emotion set.
Greatest passion: Passion is something Bella has in abundance. Never for a person, but she is passionate about that which pleases her most - chaos, turmoil and pain. Her passion is one of the most deadly things about her; people are drawn to such and only when it's too late do they discover their own undoing is what she truly desires.
Aspiration: To Hunt of whom she thinks while still trapped in the walls of Azkaban.
Greatest Positive Attribute: Bella is intense and passionate. She has a delicious laugh that causes people to stop and listen, a low and throaty sound.
Biggest Fault: Bella doesn't have a conscience. There is no 'right' and 'wrong' in her reality; only that which pleases her.
Happiest Memory: The first time she watched a living creature suffer. When she was a child, Bella came upon a bird that had fallen from its nest in her mother's vast gardens. Its cries called her attention and when she bent over the small thing, her blue eyes lit, her skin heated in a way she didn't understand. She pulled one of the pins from her hair, a meticulous riot of curls the nanny fixed everyday, and skewered the small animal, lips twitching as it screamed. She was six years old.
Most painful Memory: There isn't anything that truly pains Bella. There is only that which angers her. Her moods are slippery and unpredictable, but when angered, retribution promises to be slow and painful.
Does your character value the purity of blood:As much as Bella values anything. It is incidental. It is a source of discord, and therefore it interests her.
Is your character "pure-blooded," a "half-blood" or "Muggle-born": Pureblooded; and Bella is literally bordering on complete insanity because of it.

Describe the character's personal history (however brief or extensive):

Childhood: Bella was firstborn to Cygnus and Druella Black (née Rosier) on October 31, 1951. Her sister Andromeda was born two years later, and her youngest sister, Narcissa, two years following. She was always a moody child; sometimes easily delighted by the smallest things, her laughter infectious even from the beginning, or prone to volatile sullenness. She was never overly affectionate, but she liked to touch and 'care' for that which she considered hers - usually her sisters. For all that they were her relatives, and as close to her as anyone could ever be, she never has seen them as anything but pets to which she's fondly attached.

Hogwarts: Bella was sorted into Slytherin just as both of her parents had been. She has a magnetic personality and generally drew people to her like moths to a flame. Her mind was sharp and her tastes varied, leading to some truly interesting past times while inside the wall of Hogwarts. Her group of 'friends' consisted of the Lestrange brothers, Evan Rosier and Lucius Malfoy; they all shared a similar taste for darker things.

Her very first Hunts started here; picking a target and using whatever machinations were most effective, whether subtle or straightforward, in unhinging them. She never physically harmed one of her targets inside the walls of Hogwarts. However, she did find outlets for her more bodily cravings for inflicting pain and fear through sadistic sexual practices in her later years, her own charisma and beauty often causing a desire for more that her 'partners' loathed.

She particularly excelled at Charms, Arithmancy and Potions. Bella was never made Prefect or Head Girl, but she was the Queen of Slytherin while she was there, if only because everyone feared her as much as they were awed by her; she was beautiful, self-possessed, intense, magnetic, and her laughter, a truly touchable thing, made people love her just a little as much as many hated it.

Voldemort: During the later years of her time in Hogwarts, Bella and the few she had spent the most time with during school were approached by a Voldemort, only known as Tom Riddle then. He was charismatic and deeply dark in a way that Bella found truly compelling. By now, she had been married to Rodolphus Lestrange by an arrangement of their families. It wasn't a union that interested either of them, though they were both quite enchanted with the older and powerful Tom Riddle, soon to be Voldemort.

Bella was entranced by Tom. He offered what no one else ever had before; freedom to indulge the darkest parts of her nature. And during those years of terror, she did, gleefully.

Voldemort unleashed Bella, stripped away years of ingrained propriety, the only real constraint on indulging her sadistic madness fully, and let loose a woman bent on nothing more than complete mayhem. She loved him for it, or as close to love as she was capable; she adored him.

Bella was a powerful witch, a frighteningly smart one, and absolutely mad. It was during this time that her Hunts turned deadly and she refined torture of all kinds into an art form. The emotional and mental forms she had mastered in school, but it was during her time with Voldemort that she perfected the art of dealing out death. She reveled in it.

Azkaban: After Voldemort's fall, she initially escaped capture. Tom was the only person Bella ever saw as something more than a pawn, a pet, or a target. Together with a few other Death Eaters, she tortured Frank and Alice Longbottom with the Cruciatus Curse for information.

It left them certifiably mentally handicapped. For this and numerous other crimes, when she was captured, Bella was put into Azkaban for a life sentence.

It was here that the madness that had only tinged her being truly grew into something that defined who she was to become. Bella was in prison for fourteen years before she escaped at Voldemort's second rise.

Though she was free for a brief time during Voldemort's second rise, she soon found herself back in Azkaban when he died.

Today: Currently, Bella's been in Azkaban since the end of The War. Just as before, she knows for a certainty that her time here is only an interlude. She will be free again. The time will come and she will know it, and strike.

But in the meantime, she waits and she sings to herself the songs of her childhood, lullabies over and over, her touchable laughter echoing through the dank halls of Azkaban, causing everyone in hearing distance to pause and shudder involuntarily.

Bella waits to see those she thinks of. She waits for the Hunt.

Profession: Bella is in Azkaban.

Bella's visual representation is Angelina Jolie.
