Gwenog Jones

Name: Elle
Character Audition Questions:
Name: Gwenog Lyra Jones (aka, Gwen)
Age and date of birth: April 26, 1970 (age: 32)
Physical description: Average of height, though slight of build despite her athleticism. She's devoted to being in peak fit condition and it shows. Brunette, hazel eyes, lighter skin.
Parents’ Allegiance: (DE, OotP, Ministry, etc.): Neutral. They do what is necessary to keep the family in high standing, subtly manipulating people, whether they be Ministry, Order or some other faction as need be.
Personal Allegiance: (DE, OotP, Ministry, etc.):The same as her family. She's not interested in politics beyond what is needed to keep her family in good standing and out of the flames.
How do people perceive this character: Strong and capable. She's self assured and confident, very much the matured woman who knows who she is and what she wants. She doesn't have many close friends, but she can make friends easily if she so chooses. Gwen is good at showing people what they want to see, thus making it easier for her to get what she wants and move easily through a male dominated world as a woman with power and responsibility. She is close with her team, believing that a team of women, especially, is only successful if the chemistry and emotional stability is maintained. However, she does not spend time with the girls much off the pitch, choosing to maintain her distance, and thus their respect for her as their leader. She has a soft side and is very feminine under the put together exterior she often projects, but she's wary of letting anyone see it, lest they use it against her somehow. Despite her subtle manipulativeness, Gwen has a good heart and good intentions.
Greatest fear: She's afraid of falling in love. She's afraid of the power love gives another person over oneself.
Greatest passion: Success. Gwen is driven to succeed in anything she decides to do and has the confidence that she will succeed, even if it's years of planning in the works.
Aspiration: To be the leader of the dream team, that elusive perfect mix of people whose synergy is a magic all its own.
Greatest Positive Attribute: Underneath the various masks she hides and moves around behind, Gwen is a good person. She genuinely cares for people. They are not just numbers or statistics or pawns to her. For all that she is manipulative, she is careful of those whose lives she is affecting.
Biggest Fault: Gwen is so guarded with her true self that she is often emotionally unavailable, which is a shame because she has so much passion simmering beneath the surface of things. She channels that passion through Quidditch, to the detriment of her personal life.
Happiest Memory: The first time she flew on a broom with her big brother, Joscelin.
Most painful Memory: The death of her grandmother, Alanna Jones, who raised her and her brother. She died while Gwen was away at Hogwarts.
Does your character value the purity of blood: Gwen doesn't much care. Her family has pure blood leanings, however, Gwen herself has not seen that blood purity makes much difference in magical ability, or where she sees it most, Quidditch talent. However, she likes the power and distinction that being a pure blooded witch from a respected family has given her. She takes advantage of that when it suits her.
Is your character "pure-blooded," a "half-blood" or "Muggle-born": Pure blooded

Describe the character's personal history (however brief or extensive): Gwen was born to Daniel and Francis Jones, the newest generation of a very old pure blooded family (no relation to Auror Hestia Jones except through distant marriage). She has an older brother, Joscelin, who is seven years her senior and heir to all the Jones money and estates – what is left of them, in any case. Her parents didn't choose to have children until much later in life and Joscelin was to be an only child, but Gwen was an unexpected accident.
Though her family is noble and pure, they lost much of their fortune generations ago. They still have the Jones manor and the grounds surrounding, but lost most all their other holdings. Her family is by no means poor, as there is still a sizable amount of money in the vaults, however, the members of her family have sought ... employment befitting their status. Both her parents have been in an ambassador capacity for the Ministry to various countries all over the world for most of Gwen's life. They like to travel and make new connections everywhere they go.
Gwen and Joscelin were raised by their grandmother, Alanna Jones, until they went to Hogwarts. She had been a warm, caring woman despite the decorum and strict rules she demanded be maintained. Despite the seven year age gap, Joscelin is the one person Gwen is close to and trusts completely. They were each other's closest friends and confidants growing up, and they stayed really close despite how far apart life kept them at times. Joscelin never conformed to the family's idea of what a Jones should be and has been working in the dragon reserves for the past twenty years.
While at Hogwarts, Gwen flourished. She was sorted into Slytherin as most generations of her family had been. She made the Quidditch team her second year as seeker, was captain and a Slytherin Prefect by her fifth year, and became Head Girl her seventh year. She was friendly with most everyone in her house, if you could call it that, but didn't ever make any close friends. She never isolated herself from the other students in other houses either, as was the penchant of many of her Slytherin housemates. Firstly, the person she most loved in the world, Joscelin, had been a Gryffindor, and secondly, one never knew when a distant, seemingly unimportant contact, might be useful.
The most devastating experience of her life happened while at Hogwarts. Her gramma Alanna passed away during her sixth year. She didn't share her pain with anyone, though the team noticed that she was an extra demanding and difficult task master that year.
Gwen graduated from Hogwarts in 1987 and was recruited straight out of school to be reserve for the Holyhead Harpies, earning the starting position as Seeker after only one season. After she took on the full time starting position as seeker, the Harpies placed in the top three in league consistently. She was made captain of the team seven years after becoming a starter in 1995. Gwen has lead the team to two league championships since becoming captain.
As of 2002, Gwen is in her seventh year as captain of the Harpies. She is devoted to her team, both for love of the game and because she craves success in the path she chose. She lives in a high-rise flat in wizarding London, windows from floor to ceiling making it look as if she's suspended in midair over the city. She loves it.
Gwen likes where her life has gone, though it has been lonely at times. She has sought companionship, mostly powerful older men, when it suits her. Many people, both men and women, are intimidated by a successful woman and this has made Gwen wary of real relationships of any kind, friendship or more. She is close to her brother, though she rarely actually sees him due to their chosen professions.
Profession: Captain and Seeker, Holyhead Harpies.
