Name: Joscelin Marius Jones
Age and date of birth: November 12, 1964 (age: 38)
Physical description: Taller, about 6'3", leanly muscular and fit. Dark hair that is usually on the longer side and thus slightly wavy. He's almost always has a scruffy few days growth of hair on his face. Lighter skin and Hazel/green eyes always sparked by a twinkle of amusement.
Parents’ Allegiance: (DE, OotP, Ministry, etc.): Neutral. They do what is necessary to keep the family in high standing, subtly manipulating people, whether they be Ministry, Order or some other faction as need be.
Personal Allegiance: (DE, OotP, Ministry, etc.): He was in Romania during the war, but he sympathized with the OotP.
How do people perceive this character: Joscelin is seen as a fun and outgoing guy, always up for a challenge or a dare. He's rebellious, a rogue of a sort and an incorrigible flirt - full of charisma and easy charm. He sings bawdy songs around the campfire, swears in several different languages, and tells a story in that way where everyone loves to listen. Most everything amuses him and this often spreads from him to those around him. He is often the center of entertainment. This perception leads many to think that he doesn't take anything seriously. Though Joscelin is amused by life in general, there are a several things he takes very seriously. His sister, for one, as well as any other people he considers to be his.
Greatest fear: Losing his baby sister, Gwen Jones.
Greatest passion: Pushing his limits.
Aspiration: For a long time he aspired to piss off his parents as much as possible, but over the years his goals have changed. He wants a family - a wife that he loves and loves him, and lots of children. Basically, the antithesis of his childhood family life. He's not actively searching for this though. When he finds the right person, he's at a point in his life where he'd be ready to settle down. However, in the mean time he's more than open to various avenues of ... fun.
Greatest Positive Attribute: Though Joscelin is physically imposing at first glance, he has a charisma about him that puts people at ease. This also extends to animals - he's worked with horses, dogs, dragons and other magical beasts.
Biggest Fault: He can be very confrontational and antagonistic.
Happiest Memory: The first time he took his little sister, Gwen, for a ride on his broom. He'll never forget the way her face lit in a way he'd never seen before.
Most painful Memory: Being abandoned by what he considered family. He’ll never forget it, and he’s going to make sure they know this.

Describe the character's personal history (however brief or extensive):

Joscelin was born to Daniel and Francis Jones. He was meant to be an only child, his purpose as heir to the name and estates, but he has a younger sister, Gwen, who is about seven years his junior - an unexpected and unwanted accident.

Though his family is noble and pure, they lost much of their fortune generations ago. They still have the Jones manor and the grounds surrounding, but lost most all their other holdings. His family is by no means poor, as there is still a sizable amount of money in the vaults, however, the members of his family have sought ... employment befitting their status. Both his parents have been in an ambassador capacity for the Ministry to various countries all over the world for most of Joscelin's life.

Joscelin doesn't get along with either of his parents at all. They were generally cold and unfeeling people and parenthood did nothing to warm them. Throughout his childhood, Joscelin was 'groomed' to be the perfect gentleman, the perfect wizard, the perfect heir. He hated every minute of it. He resented being a means to an end.

Joscelin and Gwen were raised by their grandmother, Alanna Jones, until they went to Hogwarts. Despite the seven year age gap, Joscelin was always very close to Gwen. Where he had a cold relationship with their parents, Gwen had no relationship at all with them. She had always been closer to their grandmother than he had, but their grandmother was just as Slytherin as everyone else in their family and when Gwen had sought warmth, family and love, Joscelin had made sure it was there for her.

When he entered into Hogwarts, Joscelin was the first Jones in over ten generations to be sorted into Gryffindor. He had a lot of friends, made lots of trouble and played Quidditch for the house team as a beater starting his third year. He was definitely never a prefect or even close to being head boy - he was the one making their lives much harder than they had to be. He graduated from Hogwarts in 1980 and after spending the summer with his sister before she began her first year, he went to Romania to learn to be a dragon tamer.

Being far away from his sister was hard, but he needed to get away. They made time to see each other as much as time and circumstance permitted though. He has a tattoo at the top of his back of a sleeping dragon wrapped around an intricate script that says 'Lyra' - his sister's middle name.

After learning his trade, Joscelin spent a few years traveling the continent visiting other dragon reserves before settling back in Romania to be a permanent resident trainer. He's been settled in Romania for the past 14 years. However, for quite some time Joscelin has been mulling over the idea of returning home to be closer to his sister and take his place as master of Tretower Court, the Jones estates.

Joscelin spent much of his life doing everything he could think of that went against what his parents, the family tradition and what his breeding would ask of him - sorting into Gryffindor, taking on a 'labor' job as dragon handler, getting tattoos, piercings and anything else he could think of. However, though he's still a rebellious rogue of a man, he's older, wiser and no longer feels the need to live his life in opposition to someone else's expectations.

Plus, it tickles his fancy that he will be the master of Tretower and that his father never was. For some reason the magic of the estates never accepted his father as the rightful master and Joscelin is pretty sure this is why his parents never spent much time home or in Britain in general.
