A Dark Rising

Regan Bole

Player Info:
Name: Amanda

Character Audition Questions:

Name: Regan Luciana Bole
Age and date of birth: June 03, 1986 (age: 17)
Physical description: Small, currently very thin and brittle-looking. 5'0", with long blonde hair and grey-green eyes.
Parents’ Allegiance: (DE, OotP, Ministry, etc.): Antony, Regan's father, had political leanings more in line with those of the Death Eaters than anything else, though he was not directly involved. Vivienne, her mother, tended to ignore politics altogether whenever possible.
Personal Allegiance: (DE, OotP, Ministry, etc.): None of the above... Regan was barely a teenager when the war ended; her only allegiance is to her older brother, Tristan, and to a lesser degree their mother Vivienne.
How do people perceive this character: Wary and more than slightly off-kilter. Regan was a shy, sweet young woman, though admittedly somewhat odd, until several months ago, when she disappeared along with her brother, who (unbeknownst to anyone) was in the process of losing his sanity. She is at present showing a tendency toward cynicism and jumpiness as a result of her traumatic experience.
Greatest fear:Regan's greatest fear has recently come to pass; she is alone in the world, possibly permanently.
Greatest Passion: Regan has always loved music, but her only interest for the past several months has been survival.
Aspiration: Staying alive... she's not sure right now what comes after that.
Greatest Positive Attribute: Sincerity and resilience.
Biggest Fault: Dependency. Regan relied on Tristan for nearly everything until he became incapable of caring for her. Managing for herself has been very difficult, and will only get worse.
Happiest Memory: Playing cello for Tristan for the first time, once she'd decided she'd practiced enough to be heard. It was the first time she noticed anyone being proud of her.
Most painful Memory: Watching her brother, her caretaker, slip into madness and turn his back on her. Realizing that the idea that he'd never hurt her was illusory; a lie.
Does your character value the purity of blood: She knows she's supposed to, and often doesn't understand muggleborns' points of view, but to Regan people are people.
Is your character "pure-blooded," a "half-blood" or "Muggle-born": Pureblood

Describe the character's personal history (however brief or extensive):

Regan Luciana Bole was born June 03, 1986 to Vivienne and Antony Bole; they'd not planned a second child - Regan was an accident. Her parents were not cruel about the fact, but she was never the prized heir that her older brother, Tristan, was, and to some degree she knew it. Tristan tried not to let her feel it; he was away at Hogwarts for her early childhood, but he lavished her with attention and affection whenever he was home. He was the one she associated with love and safety, much moreso than either of their parents.

Regan had basically resigned herself to the fact that Antony would never quite be proud of her, no matter what she did, when he was killed in an Auror raid on a gathering of Death Eaters and sympathizers in 1998. She was twelve, and though she'd given up on winning his approval, she was devastated by the loss of a parent. Her mother retreated to France after Antony's death, completing the sensation of being orphaned, save for Tristan, who was made her second legal guardian.

She was sent to Beauxbatons when she was old enough for school (1997); Voldemort was on the rise, and Antony's questionable allegiances made Hogwarts a highly undesirable location for one of his offspring. School was both a blessing and a curse; it fed her insatiable curiosity but pulled her away from Tristan, who she'd gotten very used to having all to herself. She enjoyed Ancient Runes, private cello lessons, and dance classes at school until she was withdrawn as a student in January of the current year (2004) by her brother. In their flight she has missed several months of her seventh year of school, and likely will not leave with her yearmates.

Catching Up

Tristan and Regan disappeared from their home in England in January of this year (2004), despite Tristan's engagement to Gwen Jones and apparent contentment (aside from a bout of sleepwalking that Regan couldn't seem to shake). Regan's experience of this was being pulled from her bed in the middle of the night by her brother, with a small bag packed carried along to their flat in Paris, where they lived for some weeks with no contact from anyone Regan knew in England, and no explanations on her brother's part as to the reasons behind their departure. Eventually fearful of inciting Tristan's temper, which she had never before encountered, Regan endured these uncertain terms of existence quietly and without complaint.

She was spirited away in the night once more, this time to a crumbling estate in Wales known as Thistlemere. Few supplies were in stock at the estate, and Regan wanted to return to England. Her tearful request was met with violence; she now sports a thin scar above her left eye from a shard of Tristan's scotch glass, hurled at her in his resulting anger - one of the last true acknowledgements she received from him. In the next weeks, he stopped speaking and responding to her altogether, sitting silently or pacing the corridors, ignoring her completely unless she cried, which was always cause for an explosion of temper.

Regan is currently scraping by at Thistlemere, trying to find a way to live and, perhaps, to leave.

Profession: None currently, though she should be a seventh year student at Beauxbatons Academy of Magic.

Regan's visual representation is Annasophia Robb.
