A Dark Rising

Rose Zeller

Player Info:
Name: Vicky

Character Audition Questions:

Name: Rose Aurelia Zeller
Age and date of birth: June 13th, 1984
Physical description:Rose is petite and small of stature, topping out at 5’2 unless she’s wearing heels (which she only does when dancing). She uses this to her advantage, especially when in a crowd; you turn your head and she’s already darted away, something flashy having caught her eye. Her face is truthfully innocent; she’s still very young, and it reads in her green eyes. Never wanting to be one to blend into the background, Rose uses her body as a form of expression, choosing to charm her hair in unusual colors, paint her body with indelible ink, and never being afraid to buck traditional attire and trends.
Parents’ Allegiance: (DE, OotP, Ministry, etc.):Rose’s parents gave money to the Death Eater’s cause for safety, but never actively participated in the war. They did only that which would protect their family, middleclass purebloods from a modest town in Stoke.
Personal Allegiance: (DE, OotP, Ministry, etc.): Bentley and Dawn, Rose’s parents, kept their children as out of the war as much as they could. Therefore, she has no real opinion on politics. She is not completely ignorant of the darkness, but knows her musings would make no sense were she to voice them aloud.
How do people perceive this character:At first glance, Rose may cause a raised eyebrow, but eyes would not linger on her unless given a reason. Upon further investigation, they’d discover a very playful, lively girl who is unconcerned with the future. She is completely living in the moment, enjoying her late teens and soon to be early twenties. One can regularly see her in the clubs dotting London, dancing on the floor, surrounded by people she calls 'friends' but may know nothing about. Rose lives for laughter and joy, refusing to worry herself with anything except her game and the present day’s happiness.
Greatest fear: Rose hasn't discovered her greatest fear yet.
Greatest passion:The game of the day. Most days, this involves flying on a broom and throwing a quaffle through a hoop. Other days, this may involve finding the right shade of eye shadow to offset her current jumper. Whatever she is doing, whenever she is doing it, is her greatest passion; today, right now.
Aspiration: She wants to play, professionally, for a quidditch team. She’s tried out for several and been put on their alternate rosters. This is not enough for Rose. Waiting is torture. She wants to play, and she wants to play now.
Greatest Positive Attribute: If you are friends with Rose, you will never have a dull moment. Spontaneous doesn’t begin to explain the petite young woman.
Biggest Fault: Rose is easily distracted, and has absolutely no patience. She has a horribly filthy mouth (her mother threatened to use a cleaning charm on it regularly, but Rose blamed her brothers’ influences) and does not feel guilty using it in an argument.
Happiest Memory: Rose has several happy memories. It would be hard to single out one glorious moment above all others. Though, if she were forced and given several days to decipher her own thoughts, she’d consider the first time she flew to be among the top.
Most painful Memory: Watching her dad being taken during the summer after her third year. Her mother was crying, and her older brother had to be restrained. She had no idea what was going on, and that fear stuck with her until he came home.
Does your character value the purity of blood: She is aware that is should, but doesn’t give it enough thought to have it matter. She is sad that non-magical folk do not know the feeling of being on a broom. She knows they have things that allow them to fly, but Rose is fairly sure it doesn’t compare.
Is your character "pure-blooded," a "half-blood" or "Muggle-born": Pureblood, only four generations back.

Describe the character's personal history (however brief or extensive):

Rose grew up in a small town in Stoke, along with three brothers and her parents. The family was not the traditional pureblood statistic. Moderately wealthy, Bentley and Dawn raised their children in a home full of love and happiness. Her brothers teased Rose relentlessly, but it was never mistaken for anything but adoration for their baby sister. She grew up idolizing her brothers, refusing to do anything girly, much to the chagrin of her mother. This especially took on a life of its own when she stole her brother’s broom and took a jaunt around the backyard. She broke her wrist, but didn’t care in the least. She’d found flying.

She was sorted into Hufflepuff three years behind the infamous Harry Potter, though she was much more interested in her early years with rough housing with the boys in her year. During the summer after her third year, Rose witnessed the arrest of her father on charges of assisting the Death Eater movement. Her mother, endlessly devoted to Bentley, was distraught. Her eldest brother, Zachary, had to be restrained as they took him away. Rose had no idea what was going on, and the fear still clenches her chest when she remembers the look on her family’s faces. Dawn, a barrister, fought tooth and nail for her husband's cause, taking two years before she was given an audience before the Wizengamot. Rose's mother finally had her day in court, ultimately suceeding in showing that the prosecution was unable to prove that Rose’s father had actively participated in any Death Eater activities. Given a sentence of two years, which was considered as time served, Bentley was finally released from Azkaban. His return restored something the family had been lacking, and life began to settle into boringness for the Zellers. Rose knows the prison changed something in her father, a lack of the bright light in his eyes that she remembers as a small child, but Bentley has done everything in his power to keep his pain from his children.

It wasn’t until Rose's fourth year that she really started understanding that she was girl and that some fun things came along with that title… including fashion and make-up. Girl things, yes, but also artistic in a way that she enjoyed immensely. She had been looking for an outlet for her emotions since her dad's arrest, and she found that in clothing and color. Even after he was returned, this expression stayed with the small Hufflepuff.

Quidditch became a large part of her life Rose's last three years at Hogwarts. Those were dark times, but she threw herself into the game that allowed her to fly and ignored, as best as she could, everything that attempted to bleed into her happiness. Rose played chaser, unconcerned with house cups and winning as much as she enjoyed the sound the quaffle made when passing through the hoops at the other end of the pitch. It wasn’t about the win for Rose, it was about the challenge.

After graduating two years ago, Rose has been scattered. The first year found her traveling, though not playing, with a band her brothers play in. This only held her interest for so long, and she found herself coming home and working for her mother for a few months, hired to sort files in her small law firm. She loathed the job, and both mother and daughter agreed that the tasks were not suited to Rose’s talents.

It took the urging and encouragement of her brothers to strive for her dream; Rose began to try out in early 2004 for several different Quidditch teams. She didn’t care where she played, as long as she played. Her passion landed her a stop on the Holyhead Harpies as a chaser, quickly becoming a starter. The Harpies won the Quidditch Cup this last season, and she would be elated if they had a repeat this coming year. As long as she’s flying, though, the winning isn’t too important.

Profession: Starting chaser on the Holyhead Harpies.

Rose's visual representation is Hayley Williams.
