Name: Samantha ‘Sam’ Jane Fawcett
Age and date of birth: March 17, 1980
Physical description: Sam is 5’6”, with dark hair and eyes.  She has a fairly athletic build.  Her features are pleasant enough, but she’s never put much effort into looking pretty.
Parents’ Allegiance: (DE, OotP, Ministry, etc.): Muggles
Personal Allegiance: (DE, OotP, Ministry, etc.): Sam doesn’t really think in terms of allegiance to any particular group.  In the rare instances where she pays attention to politics and public affairs, she lets her conscience guide her.
How do people perceive this character: People see Sam as a dedicated naturalist and a bit of a tomboy.  She’s very knowledgeable in her field, and can be quite passionate about it, occasionally going on about dragons ad nauseam.  She’s much more comfortable in denim and work boots than dresses and heels.
Greatest passion: Her work.
Aspiration: To establish an effective way to increase the declining dragon population without endangering the public.
Greatest Positive Attribute: Her dedication to whatever task she’s given.
Biggest Fault: Sam gets so caught up in her work that she’s pretty clueless about anything else going on around her.  Also, her lack of fear in regards to animals has put her in a dangerous position more than once.  It’s best for Sam’s own safety that she do her research in the company of someone with more common sense.
Happiest Memory: Being chosen to participate in a field study headed by Newt Scamander.
Most painful Memory: Leaving home to go to Hogwarts.  She’s grateful now, but it was a difficult transition.

Describe the character's personal history (however brief or extensive): Sam was born to Muggle parents in East Lothian, Scotland.  Her childhood was unremarkable with the exception of a curious affinity for animals, which seemed to be drawn to her – often coming directly to her as if summoned.  When she was invited to Hogwarts she was reluctant to leave the security of home, but her parents convinced her that it was best to learn to control her magic.  It took some time, but gradually she became comfortable in the wizarding world.  Magical animals fascinated her, and she was one of very few students to continue the Care of Magical Creatures class through the NEWT level.

Profession: Sam is a naturalist working for the Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures, Beast Division, Dragon Research and Restraint Bureau.
