Character Audition Questions:
Name: Jonathan Alexander Savage
Age and date of birth: August 1, 1961 (44)
Physical description: 5’9”. Jonathan has shaggy brown hair which is starting to show streaks of gray. He tends to let it grow out so it’s available to be tugged, only cutting it when it begins to affect his aim. He is not overly muscular, but works hard to stay fit, using a combination of boxing, Tai Chi and long distance running. He has a large scar on most of his back and right shoulder from a slicing hex over twenty years ago. The scar runs from his lower back, up and over his right shoulder, and ends at his clavicle. He was cocky and he paid for it.
Parents’ Allegiance: (DE, OotP, Ministry, etc.): Publicly, they had no opinion. Privately, they donated a fortune to Voldemort's cause. This earned the favor of the Death Eaters, but kept them from being actively enrolled in either side of the war.
Personal Allegiance: (DE, OotP, Ministry, etc.): Jonathan enrolled in the Auror Program straight out of Hogwarts. During the majority of both wars he preferred to stay away, taking a post in America where he kept the Death Eaters from latching onto international support.
How do people perceive this character: Sarcastic and bitter and very superficial. Only a select few know he has deeper, more meaningful layers.
Greatest fear: Becoming his father.
Greatest passion: At one point in time he had no passion but what satisfied his needs, but since returning to the Continent and becoming involved with Gwen Jones, he finds himself more concerned with the welfare and happiness of those closest to him.
Aspiration: To see those around him happy, something he though to never desire.
Greatest Positive Attribute: Jonathan has found himself with a deep well of loyalty, an attribute he was unaware he possessed until recently
Biggest Fault: He will push at you until you break, which can sometimes be painful.
Happiest Memory: Hearing Gwen say she loved him. He hadn’t known he needed to hear the words aloud until they were there, and now he doesn’t know what he’d do if they were taken back.
Most painful Memory: Realizing his parents were dead; not for the fact that they were gone, but for the fact that the weight of the entire Savage name now rested on his unprepared shoulders.
Does your character value the purity of blood: Privately, no. Personally, he believes that respect should be given to those that deserve it.
Is your character "pure-blooded," a "half-blood" or "Muggle-born": Pureblooded.

Describe the character's personal history (however brief or extensive):
Jonathan Alexander Savage was born to Elizabeth and Jason Savage on August 1st, 1961. Glad that they’d had a boy on their first try, he was raised as an only child in an opulent home. This environment led to him being absurdly spoiled, going through several nannies before finding one that could put up with his screeching. His parents traveled extensively, but when they were home, Jonathan found himself frequently criticized. His father was unhappy with the personality that refused to be beaten out of him, and his mother was altogether unimpressed with the son she’d obviously felt obligated to provide.
At Hogwarts, Jonathan was an awkward teen. Placed in Slytherin, he formed no real friendships with his housemates. Having never had much personal interaction in his younger years, he was uncertain how to behave around them. Awkward and sarcastic, he was more often found at a table in the library, than around the fire with his classmates. He threw himself into his studies, excelling at Charms and Defense Against the Dark Arts. Not interested in Quidditch or the other sports his classmates were, Jonathan was easily the smallest Slytherin male in his year. His size led to him being picked on and he was forced to defend himself. He quickly became familiar with detention and was responsible for a majority of the points loss to Slytherin each year.
After graduation, Jonathan entered the Auror Program at the Ministry of Magic. When he told his parents his plans, his father was enraged. The only way the Savage’s had been able to involvement in the war was to gain the favor of the Death Eaters; if their only son threw his hat in with the Ministry, it would be a catastrophe for the family name.
Uncaring of his father’s plight, Jonathan continued with his training. He received notice that he’d been excluded from the family vault and written out of his father’s will. Free of his father’s expectations, Jonathan flourished at the Ministry, only struggling with Wandless Combat. It was during his training years that he began to continue the strict physical regimen that he continues to this day.
Jonathan managed to avoid most of the First and Second war with Voldemort by transferring to the American Ministry of Magic. He spent almost twenty years in the States before returning to London.
Upon returning, he found himself thrust into situations he was unprepared for. He was given a trainee, Hazel, and forced to teach the wide-eyed girl what it was to be an Auror. Despite his better judgment, he began to feel partial to Hazel, proud and hopeful that she’d become the Auror he knew she could. He felt devastated and responsible when his trainee was one of the many killed during the Halloween Massacre in Hogsmeade, and has since refused to accept another trainee.
During this same time, he began to find himself drawn to the captain and seeker of the Holyhead Harpies, Gwen Jones. Though their relationship was nowhere near instantaneous, Gwen actually heavily disliking the man on first meeting, it has grown into something more solid than Jonathan knew himself capable of. He now lives with Gwen, her adopted daughter, Tess, and Gwen’s all-but-sister, Regan.
Profession: Auror. His twenty-three year anniversary as an Auror will be in November 2005.
